As reported to the meeting on Wed. June 10th, we had a meeting with Mike Stokes to discuss the present situation in regard to the cottage.

The planning application for 3 properties at the rear of 3 McWilliam road has now been submitted to Bournemouth Council. It would appear that this development does not encroach on the curtilage of the Cottage. We understand that a proportion of the proceeds of the sale of these properties will permit Matthew Stokes to fully renovate and re-thatch Moorside Cottage.

A local thatcher is doing his own survey and report for Mr Stokes, who has promised to inform us of his findings and proposals. The time scale will very much depend on issues such as the removal of the present tenants, on whom an eviction notice has now been served, and availability of the thatcher. Mr Burke has informed us of the service of an Enforcement notice in relation to the removal of the rubbish in the grounds.

We are sure that we all await the outcome with bated breath and hope that none of us expire in the meantime :!:

Some good news at last! The tenants have been evicted and Mike Stokes has promised to start interior repairs
The planning application is now available to view - please see Roger's instructions on the News Page. We are not certain that the planning application and the renovation of the cottage can be /or will be linked.

Watch the website for further developments !! http://www.jp137.com/mh/index.php?slab=moorside-cottage

There is no 'Moorside Cottage' application as such - the Grade II Listed Building, its historic garden and boundaries are entirely unaffected by the proposal, and form no part of the application.

The application is for 3 No. brand new detached properties on a parcel of land adjacent to Moorside Cottage, acquired as recently as 1957.

You can link direct to the Online Planning Register via :
http://planning.bournemouth.gov.uk/Real ... ecno=87301

The time limit for public comment on the planning application is 31st July. There's no purpose in cottage banter, it simply doesn't form part of the application.

I note that one comment has already been registered - you can find it by going to the above link and clicking on the "Associated Documents" tab.

A second "General Comment" has arrived on the Online Town Planning Register pages.

Just to remind, the closing date for comments is 31st July 2015 (17 full days from today).

At 20th July a total of eleven Comments were in place on the Register pages (with some out-of-sequence numbering). However one is from the Council's own Drainage Dept talking about 1 in 100 years flood statistics and appropriate precautions - not from a member of the public - so I suppose that's actually ten, then.

The Planning Board's next committee meetings are scheduled for Mon 17th August (which seems a bit too soon) and Mon 21st September (seem more likely) so there's still plenty of time to enjoy the sunshine.

The 31st July deadline for comments has passed and some 32 (probably) have been published. Discard a few for duplications, an in-house response from the Council's own drainage dept and some wonky numbering, and it's still quite a lot. And quite a lot of them raise objections.

Some object to 'noise', and losses of 'wild life' and the leafy views of others' trees they've enjoyed for decades at the ends of their gardens. Some, bless 'em, even rope in Moorside Cottage to support their arguments

Among the jigsaw of objections, there are technical issues that should indeed be addressed, if the applicant's architects, and their professionally qualified counterparts at the Council, have not already done so.

Recently while waiting for my home-alone Special Chow Mein to be cooked in a local takeaway, I found myself flicking idly through an oily copy of The Sun from a few days earlier. An editorial piece caught my eye :

Just a snippet of hopefully good news?!

Mike Stokes has sent a man and a van to clear the rubbish at the Cottage. He was working there Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Jill had a conversation with him and he told her that the living accommodation was now cleared and that he would be back this coming week, for probably one or more days, to finish clearing the garden and a large shed (didn't know there was one). He had made 7 loads so far!

Suppose we must now just wait to see what the Planning Board come up with.

The following Legal Notice was published in last Saturday's Echo, and on the website today

http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/announ ... urnemouth/

Representations are invited within 21 days specifically from owners or tenants of land. presumably separate from the general comments that closed a few weeks ago, so a decision at the September planning meeting is not looking likely now.

Yup, the Bournemouth Echo publication date is given as 1st September, so 21 days on will take us one day past the 21st Sep meeting. The next three Bournemouth Council Planning Board meetings are :

Mon 19th Oct
Mon 16th Nov
Mon 14th Dec

Members of the public may attend these meetings. You could just walk in when I last went to one (probably 15 years ago?) but they may have a full-blown security station these days.

There has been a recent addition to the Planning Application site 7-2015-13118-Q.The council have added the text of a letter sent to Mr Hubbard, to whom the case has been delegated, on 24 th August by ECA (Mr Stokes' architects). It addresses some of the neighbour's concerns about the Cottage. We understood that any mention of the listed building would be treated as irrelevant. However, the letter runs to 5 pages and ECA are requesting a meeting. PAGE 3 IS VERY INTERESTING. The letter was not "posted" on the web site until 16th September. It can be found under Associated Documents, sub headed Correspondence (below Ecology Statement) and precedes the Comments.
Perhaps we should keep our eyes peeled for any other "correspondence" on the Planning website.
