Interesting reading Jill....I've posted a link to a copy of the letter onto the website, and linked back to this thread so everyone can keep up to date more easily.

It's good to read about a formal connection between the Application and the Cottage repairs being made...

I haven't been able to look at the ecology report as yet though.....that Council Planning Application site seems to have mind of its own on occasion!

Hey, I've learned a new English word today from ECA's letter to the Council - "ruderal" ( = "growing in waste places").

It was of course the Council's decision to publish this for public consumption, which is worth bearing in mind.

On p.4 a meeting is suggested to discuss what would be, for the first time, a formal connection between the proposed new housing and the variably ancient Moorside Cottage, as an 'Enabling Development' to fund the cost of repairs.

Going into p.5, ECA also propose discussions about the access, trees and "issues raised by neighbouring residents" - which have arisen since the original Consultation, Application and Public Comment stages of this process.

This is all very good news for those who would like to see the cottage renovated, and especially for Jill and Berni who have steadfastly campaigned for this outcome.

Personally I've not seen the Town Planning process aired with quite so much detail before. This is the sort of attention that might be expected for a multi-zillion pound development by Lord Sugar envisaging the engulfment of the Tower of London for investment by foreign princes. Despite a noticeable lack of Lamborghinis in Moordown, things seem to be proceeding very well.

Just another snippet of information for general perusal. We have been in touch with Mike Stokes, who has informed us that there are now new tenants at the Cottage , a family with children. We can only hope that they have more respect for their surroundings than the previous lot :!:

The agenda for the November meeting of the Planning Board is now available, but Moorside Cottage is not included. So we must continue to wait with diminishing patience.

Just checked the Planning Board agenda for the 14th December meeting - no mention again! The Jan / Feb 2016 meetings are listed by date, but no agenda/schedules yet.

The agenda for the January meeting of the Planning Board is now showing on line,but Moorside Cottage has once again been overlooked. It appears that several more recent applications have "leap frogged" that of Moorside Cottage and have been done and dusted. Has anybody any ideas as to how we can put pressure on the Council to expedite this matter? Winter is upon us again and still the thatch remains totally unprotected from the elements and can only continue to deteriorate further.

I spoke briefly to Mike Stokes (father of Matthew) last week. Apparently the application (for 3 No. brand new dwellings) was held up by claims that a tree or trees would be damaged by the development - tree root investigation were conducted by specialists, and the finding was that no damage will occur as a result of the proposed development works. I am given to understand that the delayed Town Planning report / presentation work has now been put back on track.

Just to remind everyone, the Town Planning Application is not 'about' Moorside Cottage, the Grade II Listed thatched cottage or its historic plot. Matthew Stokes' development application is for 3 No. brand new dwellings on adjacent land that was purchased much later. The Cottage is unaffected, and no vehicular (or pedestrian) access over the Cottage plot has been applied for.

As reported earlier by others, Moorside Cottage is now rented to and satisfactorily occupied by a new family.

A huge amount of rubbish that the previous tenant had allowed to be dumped for his own profit was removed, and repair & renovation work was carried out at the property ahead of the new occupation - all at significant cost.

Once the Planning Application for development of 3 No. new dwellings on land adjacent has been approved, proceeds from that enterprise will be used to renovate Moorside Cottage, as a voluntary Condition of the Approval document.

The agenda is now online for the February meeting of the Planning Board, but the application to build on the land adjacent to Moorside Cottatge at 1 McWilliam Road IS NOT LISTED once again. We can't think of anything else to say about it that we haven't said already,but hope springs eternal!
